Africa Foundation for Sustainable Development
Africa Foundation for Sustainable Development (AFSD), is a sister concern, of the All Africa Foundation, founded in 2010, having its footprints in South Africa, Mozambique and Zambia. The Organization is aligned with the principles of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and the National Development Plan of South Africa, focusing its efforts, on implementing the sustainable development strategies in communities and societies, impacted through the commercial mining operations.
Africa Foundation for Sustainable Development (AFSD), is a member of the Global Environment Facility (GEF), Civil Society Organizations (CSO) network, and has been implementing the GEF mandate, to enable global benefits in South Africa. AFSD is also working, within the ambit of international conventions, such as the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and the Minamata Convention on Mercury in African Regions.
Africa Foundation for Sustainable Development (AFSD), is currently working in the areas of greenfield projects, renewable energy, agricultural sectors and gender equality, socio-economic development, through Small, Medium and Micro enterprises (SMMEs) in the mining areas.
Samtulya Paryavaran Siksha Prasar Kendra
Though a nascent establishment, it has an onerous task to disseminate environmental education, to different sections of the society, giving utmost priority, to rural and remote rural habitations. Special emphasis is also laid, on surface, as well as ground water management, along with, current and traditional methods of water harvesting and recycling. The Organization spreads awareness, amongst the people, regarding their legitimate rights, conferred under the Constitution and Environmental Acts.
It also strives to educate and assist the people, technically, regarding the disposal of domestic waste and to establish, small help groups (SHG), to join together, against disposal of radioactive wastes, industrial effluents, as well as medical waste. It aims to spread awareness, amongst the people, regarding the impact of genetically modified crops and the fertility of the soil. It endeavors to educate the communities, about their general health and against the underground contamination, of harmful elements, like arsenic, iron, fluorine, cadmium, lead, chromium etc.
Green Saver and Welfare Society
A youth-oriented organization, it operates to bring about environmental consciousness, to stimulate and promote youth-participation, towards, being Earth Warriors. Environmental awareness, basically means a behavioral change, oriented towards environment conservation. It is a research based organization, that coalesces, environmental science and law, to formulate a sustainable and long-lasting solution, to environmental problems. Each and every project, involves a proper and an in-depth study of the particular issue at hand, by an advisory team, that includes field experts.
The Organization figures out innovative and technology based solutions, concerning air, water and soil, and provides a platform, to the youth, to participate in public issues. It believes that the young blood, has positivity, and their ideas are fresh and pragmatic; these ideas are not executed due to the lack of support, unity and an appropriate platform—the intention is to provide that platform to all those concerned.
