Mr. J.S Walia
Mr. Walia, who was previously serving, during 2015, as Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wild Life) and the Chief Wildlife Warden (H.P), is an environmental and forestry enthusiast, both as a Conservationist and learner, with more than 36 years of career experience, in the Indian Forest Service Office, in Himachal Pradesh (North–West Himalayas), India. A product of IIT Kanpur, he has handled Integrated Natural Resources Management and Strategic Project Planning and Execution, with reference to its inception and design, ground level working, capacity build-up and training, monitoring and execution and networking. He has worked actively, towards integrating ecosystem services (assessment and valuation) into policy, planning and practice. He has also done project appraisal and management, to foster development assistance, through international co-operation and has spear-headed marketing of forest produce and promoted business opportunity for sustainable products and raised awareness, promoted sustainable livelihood options for poverty alleviation and catalyzed improved community participation, thereby spurring rural development. He works towards Improved interaction with other development institutions, private sector, NGOs and civil society in general, and is particularly, interested in Soil and Water Conservation methodology with special emphasis on bio-engineering. Alongside, he is also a master trainer and educator in the field of Environment and Forestry.
