Look around us! Do you see what I see? Are we living in a world of stupidity or freedom

Tough question to answer! Probably not for those who tried the latest #kikichallenge. I am sure that by now you must be aware of the Kiki Challenge. If not by name, but at least through some crazy videos of people attempting to dance from a moving car getting viral on news and social media. Before writing this post, I tried to search on google — ‘How many people worldwide have attempted the kikichallenge yet’. Google always has answer for everything. But, not for this. Unfortunately!

Have you ever wondered about the challenges you have taken in your entire life? Well, work deadlines and chasing credit card payments may be the first thing that comes to your mind. Let’s keep them aside and ponder upon the innocent challenges dared by our family or friends for fun, like arm wrestling or proposing a girl you like (or may not). They all count upon as not just fun. They actually helped us to shape our personality as who we are today. There has always been an underlying reason for each challenge given to us by our family and friends — to check or re-check the courage we encompass. I personally feel that, these days the true essence of the challenge is being missed. Instead, it has become a platform to just to get few likes or comments on the social media.
This time, let’s challenge ourselves to see the impact of a habit we are not completely aware of and shaping our whole life. You might have heard from someone smoking is not bad, addiction to it is. Well, we may have our difference in opinion on smoking, but we can agree on its impact due to addiction.

The challenge!

Pick yourself a suitable date and duration when you will completely keep yourself away from all the technology you have been using round the clock. This may include your phone, laptop, tablets or iPads. Ideally, pick a time duration that do not disturb your work commitment. And yeah, there’s no excuse left!

How to start!

Post on your Facebook wall or WhatsApp status or any other source of social media that you have dared to take this challenge and won’t be available for that duration. You may share an alternate contact person as a contact for emergency during your absence of social media. Now, you can relax! No disturbances, no one looking for you, no hassles, well, no excuses!

Take a pledge!

Take a pledge that you won’t use any social media or technology during your challenge.

You need to do!

Now you are committed to take your challenge. You may miss your WhatsApp notifications, Facebook posts and many other things you have been used to. But the joy of doing something, what would you have not done for a while without any technology is going to enthrall you! Something like reading a novel, visiting a friend, cleaning your room or accompanying with grandparents.

Share your experience!

After your challenge is over and you’re back to your old world, it’s time to reply to all the missed notifications. Before that, it’s time to challenge others. Share your experience on your post first. Let people know how you felt, your suggestions and don’t forget to mention that, YOU WILL DARE THIS AGAIN!
